English w/ Mr. Rouse –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- none.
- We started The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and to get the students in the right mindset, we did some dystopian pre-reading where we had discourse about government responses to rebellion and overpopulation.
- We did some character analysis and close reading as the chapters are richly detailed.
- We spotlighted a prominent black figure from Black History.
Math w/ Mrs. Boldrick –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- None Scheduled
- The students finished up their unit with Conrad Borchers of Carnegie Mellon University. With the help of our math class, Conrad will finish his online tutoring project that he is developing to gain his PhD. The students enjoyed working with Conrad and his team.
- The students also finished the unit on inequalities. Instead of a test, the students were required to finish multiple pages in their workbook. We finished the work and checked answers on Friday.
- Next week, we will start a new trimester with polynomials. The students have already been exposed to this concept, but we’ll do a deeper dive into the skills.
Music w/Mrs. Chelsey –
Our journal today was a response to the piece “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin.
Upcoming Tests/Quizzes –
This week we did some sound and theatre games, as well as continued working on our sound bath routine. We will present it to 6th and 7th grade next friday morning!!
