Weekly Recap:

Language Arts:

  • Students completed their creative choice research presentations and invited fourth grade down for a showcase! We loved having the students proudly show off their research and writing.
  • Finished our novel study on One Crazy Summer
  • Students participated in a fishbowl-style discussion to wrap up the book, where they earned points for speaking and sharing their thoughts and opinions with text evidence

Math:

  • Students spent the week reviewing fraction operations and how to simplify them
  • Completed practice problems as a study tool throughout the week and played review game Jeopardy
  • Took a quiz on Friday on fraction operations

Robotics:

On Thursday, our students competed in the 2026 Robotics Competition. Everything from the last few months of class came down to that final moment. They had 6 classes and 2 practice sessions to learn the maze and write the code. The greater part of the challenge is the competition itself. Standing up in a silent room, with all eyes watching, wondering if and when you recover the robot, while keeping emotions in check, is the best part of the final competition. We were so proud of everyone.

  • How did you feel about your team’s performance in the Robotics Competition?
  • Were you nervous standing up there? Did you feel prepared?
  • How did you do on your math quiz?
  • Did you have the 12 state capitals of the Southeast region memorized?
  • How many times did you speak up in the final discussion for One Crazy Summer?
